The Sabres completely collapse in a 6-2 loss at home to the Flyers. Despite the fast 2-0 start, Buffalo allowed six straight goals in the losing effort. Four of those six goals came in the third period, as the energy left the arena. The Sabres have now lost 5 in a row, to make their record 10-3-2 over their last 15 games.
Buffalo’s next game will be on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings. That game will be at KeyBank Center, as the Sabres look to rebound off of the losing home effort.
Let’s go inside the locker room and see what players and coaches had to say after today’s matchup:
On today’s effort: “That’s not us… I think we are losing sight of what made us successful… We have to realize we haven’t earned anything in this league because we won a couple of games.”
On the Flyers offensive effort: “They did a good job but I didn’t think we were working in our own zone… it’s pretty simple, it’s just hard work.”
On first point: “In one way it was special (that my family was here), in one way it would have been special if we won.”
On: “We needed to stick to our game plan more… (we will) learn from it”
On today’s effort: “Once we got the two goals… we thought it was going to be an easy game… we stopped checking.”
On what went wrong today: “We didn’t stay true to what made us successful. We are a hard checking team and we got away from that… today was a stinker.”
