Howard with 42 saves as Red Wings top Kings 3-1 | News

DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – Three different Red Wings scored to back 42 saves from Jimmy Howard in a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings in Detroit. Dennis Cholowski scored in the first, and Frans Nielsen and Dylan Larkin lit the lamp in the second to stake Detroit to a 3-0 lead.

Anze Kopitar broke up the shutout for Los Angeles with less than seven minutes left in the third. Jonathan Quick allowed three goals on 21 shots for the Kings, who have lost five of their last seven games. Both teams went 0-for-1 on the power play.

The Red Wings skate against the Capitals in Washington D.C. tonight.
