Kings’ rookie Austin Wagner is young, but he plays with an edge – Daily News

LOS ANGELES – It wasn’t long ago that the Kings’ Matt Luff told a reporter from this newspaper that fellow rookie forward Austin Wagner is a tough guy. He wasn’t kidding.

Wagner showed that Thursday when he stuck up for goalie Jonathan Quick during the second period of the Kings’ 2-1 victory over Arizona at Staples Center. Quick had his leg clipped by Coyotes forward Nick Cousins in the crease. Quick went down, got up and came out of the crease to retaliate by trying to clip Cousins’ legs with his stick; Cousins then scored a goal that was disallowed because of incidental contact.
